Taiwo Awoniyi and Steve Cook both post messages after news coming from Nottingham Forest

Steve Cook and Taiwo Awoniyi have both delivered messages to Steve Cooper following his departure from Nottingham Forest. The head coach was dismissed yesterday and today he was replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Cook is currently at QPR having left the club in the summer transfer window after falling out of favour under Cooper. It was the manager who signed the player in January 2022, however, and he proved a big player.

Awoniyi is currently injured at the moment and his absence hasn’t helped Cooper at all. Forest have struggled with him missing and he’s the top goalscorer this season with four strikes.

Cook and Awoniyi send messages to Cooper after Forest exit

The central defender has taken to Twitter to wish Cooper and the club well moving forward. He’s a brilliant character and he’s currently trying to help QPR stay in the Championship. His tweet said:

Awoniyi will be devastated that another injury has kept him out of the Forest reckoning. The challenge for him now is to get fit and back in the team to impress the new manager.

He posted a classy message on his Instagram account last night and it’s clear that he has a lot of respect for departed Forest head coach Cooper. He said on his social media:

Yesterday was a bit of a sad day for the football club. Although Cooper’s results haven’t gone according to plan this season, the feeling was akin to having to put a pet out of its misery yesterday.

It shouldn’t have been like this. A number of factors have contributed to Cooper’s downfall at Forest, with recruitment, injuries and some tactical decisions all in the mix.

Following his exit, however, it’s been crystal clear that people have his back. Forest players of today and yesteryear posted their best wishes to the manager and the Reds have been lucky to have Cooper.

The challenge now is to move on quickly from this one. Although it will sting for a little while, the players can’t afford to drop any more points and hopefully, they can claim a big three points this weekend.
