Serge Aurier has delivered praise to Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga after the Boxing Day win over Newcastle. The Reds won 3-1 with the player signed from Manchester United starring.

Aurier has been out of action of late. He’s nursing a calf injury and hasn’t been included in a matchday squad since Forest lost 1-0 to Everton at the start of December.

The man who has captained Forest on five occasions this season has been sorely missed, with the Reds losing three of the games that he hasn’t featured in.

Neco Williams has deputised more often than not and on Boxing Day, Gonzalo Montiel came in for a rare starting berth and did very well in the huge victory.

Aurier praises Elanga after Forest display

Elanga has been a wonderful signing for Forest. He cost the club just £15 million from United and he’s already got himself nine goal contributions during 2023/24.

After registering another couple of assists against Newcastle, Aurier praised Elanga on Instagram. He called the winger a ‘medium genius’ after his efforts in the North East.

The 21-year-old is a full Sweden international and he’s proving a very useful signing for Forest. He’s a fascinating prospect and having nine assists so far this season is not to be sniffed at.

Elanga is star City Ground attraction right now

The very talented youngster is quite a scary prospect. If he’s producing this sort of form right now, just how good can the player become if he carries on this upward trajectory?

Elanga might often get compared to Brennan Johnson at Forest. That’s quite natural considering he’s operating in a similar role to that of the academy graduate last year but they are different players.

The raw pace that Elanga possesses helped Forest massively on the counter-attack on Boxing Day. In truth, Newcastle couldn’t handle him and hopefully, there will be even more to come from the young international.
