Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White delivered a pretty damning verdict on Manchester United prior to yesterday’s game. The comments made by the 23-year-old were picked up on Match of the Day as the team entered their pre-match huddle.
Forest appear to be back under Nuno Espirito Santo. The Reds backed up an impressive 3-1 win over Newcastle on Boxing Day by making a mockery of Manchester United and beating them 2-1.
Gibbs-White proved the match-winner in this one. He scored a beautifully taken goal after Marcus Rashford had cancelled out an opening goal by Nicolas Dominguez.
Forest look like a different animal under Espirito Santo. The Reds once again played on the front foot against United and ultimately Erik ten Hag’s men were second-best for a lot of this one.
What Gibbs-White said before Forest win over Manchester United
Match of the Day captured some amazing footage from Gibbs-White. Although he wasn’t the captain yesterday, it was down to him to rally the troops before kick-off in the pre-match huddle.

He was spotted pointing at the United players and seemed to be saying, ‘They don’t want this, honestly they don’t want this today’, with his teammates listening intently.
Clearly, Gibbs-White had a sixth sense because United didn’t really look like a team that fancied it. Last season, United beat Forest four times in all competitions and they blew the Reds away on each occasion.
Gibbs-White is a real leader of the pack
At 23, the Forest playmaker has a real mature head on his shoulders and Gibbs-White showed what he’s about here. The Christmas period has been fruitful for him and he’s oozing class right now.
How United would have loved a player like Gibbs-White in their team yesterday. He covered every blade of grass and his effort was so strong that he could barely move at the end!
Gibbs-White scored a brilliant goal to give Forest a big three points. He will be looking to add more goals and assists to his game but the early signs under Espirito Santo are certainly good.
