It’s been a sound year for the Nottingham Forest B-Team during the calendar year of 2023 and Detlef Esapa Osong looks like a serious talent.
The striker has been working his way back to full fitness and will hope to be ready to return to action in the New Year.
Esapa Osong has still had his moments in 2023, however, and he looks like the type of striker who could star at Forest in the future.
Who is Detlef Esapa Osong
Esapa Osong is a striker with power, pace and a willingness to press opposition defenders.
The 19-year-old has risen through the ranks at the City Ground and has starred with the under-18s in the past.
Esapa Osong is a young professional at the City Ground having signed his first deal back in January 2022.
During that season he was scoring for fun in the under-18s as they defied the odds to reach the FA Youth Cup final.
During that run, he scored important goals, including a couple during a solid comeback victory over Chelsea in the semi-final.
His defining moment during the current campaign came in a B-Team game against Arsenal.
Esapa Osong scored a brilliant goal during that game as Forest claimed a superb victory over the Gunners to continue a decent start in the Premier League 2 campaign.
What’s next for Esapa Osong at Forest
The challenge for Esapa Osong for the remainder of this season is to become a regular in the B-Team again and find the way to goal again.

The teenager clearly caught the eye of Steve Cooper when he was in charge at Forest. He handed him a late substitute appearance in the Carabao Cup second leg against Manchester United last season.
At 19-years-old, it’s a shame that he’s picked up an injury this season. He would have hoped to become integral to the B-Team in Premier League 2 but that hasn’t been the case and he’s been sidelined.
If the player stays true to himself and gets back to scoring goals on a regular basis, the future can be extremely bright for Esapa Osong.
