Shay Given has been discussing Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White after yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Blackpool in the FA Cup.

The pundit was speaking on Match of the Day 2 last night.

So, what has Given said about Forest star Gibbs-White? Let’s take a closer look…

Shay Given raves about Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

The Forest playmaker was once again in fine form as the Reds came from 2-0 behind to earn a replay against Blackpool.

He scored the equalising goal with a scrumptious strike that sailed into the top corner of Daniel Grimshaw’s net.

Given was discussing the importance of Gibbs-White to the current Forest team and it’s pretty clear that he’s a huge fan of the player.

He said on Match of the Day 2: “Once again today he’s shown just how brilliant of a player he is.

“I think Steve Cooper played him out wide sometimes but for me, he’s a 10 there is no getting away from that and he looks comfortable in that position.

“He always seems to have space and I always think that’s the sign of a good player that he always knows where he’s at on the pitch.

“Gibbs-White inspired Forest to make the comeback. It shows how much I know because I was shouting for him to hit it first time! He takes a touch and it’s just a phenomenal strike and no goalkeeper in the world is going to save that.”

Gibbs-White is a seriously special player

No player has made more chances than Gibbs-White for Forest his season, according to FBRef, and it’s time some respect was put on his name.

Okay, some of his cynics will point to three goals, two from open play and three assists as disappointing for a player of his quality.

However, this season has been a pretty strange one for Gibbs-White.

Under Steve Cooper he was playing in a team that very rarely went forward with purpose and perhaps more crucially, he was being played out wide.

Now, under the influence of Nuno Espirito Santo, he looks like he’s enjoying his football and is at the heartbeat of everything Forest do well.

Gibbs-White has improved as a player at Forest and the talented forward has a seriously high ceiling given how he’s playing right now.

Hopefully, the star man can add more goals and assists to his game and the hope will be that he’s a Forest player for many years to come.
