Nottingham Forest set to sign Jamie Newton
The 18-year-old looks set to move to Forest after learning his trade with the Rangers academy
It’s been claimed by the Daily Record that Forest are set to complete the capture and bring the player in.
Clearly, Newton will join up with the club’s academy ranks and new academy chief Craig Mulholland is likely behind this deal.

He came to Forest on the back of Ross Wilson being appointed as the Chief Football Officer and now he’s set to raid Rangers for a young signing.
Who is Jamie Newton?
The 18-year-old has been part of the Rangers academy and he’s been a regular in the Rangers B Team.
Last season the young Teddy Bears team were playing in the Lowland Leagues; with Newton getting games under his belt at that level.
Rangers were forced into a bit of a corner with Newton. His current contract expires in May and Forest have now pounced.
As a player, Newton is a defender who can operate as a left-back or on the left-hand side of a central defensive unit.
Forest have a brilliant Category One academy. As a result, Newton will feel that with some strong performances at academy level, the pathway could be clear to the senior ranks.
It will be fascinating to see what the future holds for him. Given that Mulholland replaced the legendary Gary Brazil, his appointment was greeted with some angst.
With that in mind, supporters will monitor Newton’s progress with intrigue once he arrives at Forest.
