David Prutton has now been speaking about Nottingham Forest and the situation surrounding Joe Worrall amid a difficult time for the defender.

The Sky Sports anchor has been speaking to the Forest Focus Podcast.

So, what did David Prutton says about Joe Worrall and Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a look…

What David Prutton has said about Forest captain Joe Worrall

The man who came through the youth ranks at Forest believes that Worrall is a player who simply benefits from more game time.

The 26-year-old hasn’t featured much at all this season amid Worrall having a disagreement with previous boss Steve Cooper.

Under Nuno Espirito Santo he’s earned a little reprieve and played the full 90 minutes against Blackpool on Sunday in the FA Cup.

Some cynics grew disgruntled with Worrall as the game grew on and Prutton thinks the Forest captain is the sort of player who simply needs minutes.

He told the Forest Focus Podcast: “Joe strikes me as a player who having spoken to him and having seen him in the Championship that absolutely only benefits from playing regularly.

“Some players can be dropped and go through what he’s gone through and just get on with it. Others need regular game time and some players are just different.”

In our view, Worrall allowed CJ Hamilton far too much time for Blackpool’s second goal and Forest fans were right to be disgruntled.

Furthermore, the fact he reportedly fell out with Cooper won’t sit well with fans. As captain of the club he supposedly supported as a boy, a tad more professionalism might be expected from the fan base.

Forest would be wise to cash in on defender this month

There is no way that Worrall gets into the Forest team when Murillo, Willy Boly and Moussa Niakhate are all available for selection.

Right now, however, Boly and Niakhate are on African Cup of Nations duty and Worrall will likely be required.

The Reds will perhaps be in the market for another central defender this month. If they can get one over the line, then surely Worrall will be in line for a departure.

Leicester are interested in Worrall; whilst it’s also been claimed that West Ham are watching his situation.

As supporters, there is a duty to get behind Worrall. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with believing that the squad now simply has better options.

Espirito Santo has given everyone a clean slate at Forest. Worrall be craving regular action though and once everyone is fit and available he will be back down the pecking order.
