Nottingham Forest are now interested in completing the signing of Cyril Ngonge from Hellas Verona this month.

That is according to Tutto Mercato Web.

So, what is the situation involving Cyril Ngonge and Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

Nottingham Forest want Cyril Ngonge

It would appear that Forest are going to go in search of a new winger this month – with Nuno Espirito Santo keen to strengthen.

Tutto Mercato Web claimed the Forest – and a host of other clubs – are now keen to sign the 23-year-old winger before the transfer window closes.

Forest could find this race a difficult one to claim victory in, with Napoli, Aston Villa, AC Milan and Fiorentina all credited with an interest.

Ngonge has been in fine form during 2023/24. The Forest-linked player has scored five goals and registered two assists from his 20 appearances.

Who is Cyril Ngonge?

The talented winger usually plays from the right-hand side and he’s had several clubs despite his tender years.

He is a product of the Club Brugge youth academy but has also played for PSV, RKC Waalwijk and FC Groningen during his career.

The player will likely cost around £12-13 million if he’s to leave Hellas Verona this month – and that represents a decent price.

Interestingly, as with any winger who comes into Forest, he will likely be compared to Brennan Johnson who left for £50 million in the summer.

Squawka highlights that with 20 successful crosses this season, it’s one aspect of his game that he does better than the departed Forest man.

Rumour rating: 8/10 – In our view, there is a lot to like about this deal. He can play in a problem area for Forest and crucially – at 23 – he’s a player who could improve further.

If Espirito Santo can get this one over the line it would be a great start to January in our opinion.
