Tottenham and Manchester United are now ready to move for Nottingham Forest-linked Hayden Hackney.

That is according to The Standard.

So, what is the latest on Hayden Hackney amid interest from Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

Tottenham now want Hayden Hackney

Well, it looks as though Forest will face some fierce competition for the man currently playing for Middlesbrough.

According to The Standard, Tottenham and United are now in the race for Hackney, who was linked with Forest when Steve Cooper was in charge.

The 21-year-old stole the show on Tuesday night as Middlesbrough beat Chelsea in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

He scored the game’s only goal and the Championship outfit have a slender advantage heading to Stamford Bridge for the second leg.

After the game, Michael Carrick called Hackney ‘immense’ and he’s very highly rated by his boss.

Signing him won’t be easy and it’s been claimed in the report that only a sensational offer would tempt Boro into a sale.

Forest interest in Hackney could dwindle after Cooper exit

It does feel as though this sort of signing was one that Cooper would have been all over.

However, with Nuno Espirito Santo at the helm, he could potentially have other irons in the fire for this month.

Right now, it feels unlikely that Forest will go to any great lengths to sign a central midfielder and that includes Hackney.

Forest have Orel Mangala in their squad at the moment and even he’s struggling for game time.

As a result, adding another midfielder to the ranks would make very little sense at this stage.

With Tottenham and United now in the race to sign Hackney, this does look like a target that looks increasingly unlikely from a Forest perspective.
