Nottingham Forest are now back in the race to sign Michy Batshuayi this month.

That is according to the Turkish outlet Major.

So, what is now being said about Batshuayi and will he move to Forest this month? Let’s take a closer look…

Nottingham Forest want to sign Batshuayi

Well, it would appear that Batshuayi is back on the radar at the City Ground as a new striker sits high on the list of priorities.

The Reds tried to sign the talisman in the summer and during the January transfer window 12 months ago.

It was claimed when Forest tried to land him previously that Miltos Marinakis is a big fan of Batshuayi.

Currently, the 30-year-old is playing for Fenerbahce and he’s done pretty well during the 2023/24 campaign.

So far, he’s found the net nine times and claimed three assists but now, he could be on the move.

Major claim that Forest have been offered him on loan but a mandatory purchase option of £3 million will be included in the deal.

Forest should look elsewhere for a new striker

Chris Wood has been in decent form of late and Taiwo Awoniyi is on the way back from injury.

Forest signing Batshuayi would ultimately be another Divock Origi-style signing that costs a lot in wages for little return.

The striker who has previously played in the Premier League for Chelsea and Crystal Palace earns £61,000-a-week and he won’t come cheap.

At 30, this would represent another short-term fix and Forest would be wise to target a younger striker with potential for the squad.

Signing players isn’t easy in January and every signing is a player that in theory, should improve the current squad.

Batshuayi hasn’t done it in the Premier League for a few years and in our view, the club has to avoid signing the Belgian.
