Simon Jordan has defended Nottingham Forest over the likelihood that they will be charged for breaching profitability and sustainability regulations.

The pundit spoke to TalkSPORT earlier today.

So what has Jordan said about Forest and the likelihood of their charges? Let’s take a closer look.

What Simon Jordan has said about Forest

Well, it appears as though the man who used to own Crystal Palace believes Forest might make a strong case against their charges.

Jordan is never shy in coming forward and once again, he’s said what he really thinks about the situation.

Jordan believes that Forest do at least have a leg to stand on and has delivered his verdict on the situation.

He said live on TalkSPORT: “I think they’ve got a sustainable argument whether they can get across the line. The challenge for Forest is it doesn’t cover the period they’re in the Premier League. That’s one of the three years.

“Their argument I believe will centre on the value of Brennan Johnson and when they decided to sell him to be able to meet the challenges they might have under financial fair play.

“They would suggest, I think, that selling him prior to June 2023 which was the end of the financial year and the part where they’re going to get themselves sanctioned, was not a commercially sensible thing to do.

“They will argue that it should be priced into the thinking of any adjudication that suggests they contravene financial fair play and breach those rules.”

Forest have big lessons to learn

If Forest are found guilty then naturally the club have to take any punishment on the chin and do their very best to kick on.

If, as expected, the club do get put in front of an independent commission, it’s unlikely that any punishment will be given until April.

As a result, Forest will hope to put as many points as possible between themselves and the bottom three by that point.

In the long term and in the aftermath of this, the club’s hierarchy needs to become less chaotic and more cohesive on the recruitment front.

Forest have wasted millions over the years and it was always inevitable that it would catch up with the club eventually.

Some heads could roll if any punishment costs Forest their Premier League status and hopefully, some big lessons can be learned here.
