What Andrew Omobamidele did after scoring for Forest

The Reds were dealt a blow to their preparations for this one with some extremely sad news earlier today.

News emerged ahead of tonight’s game that Cheikhou Kouyate’s father had sadly passed away.

The experienced midfielder has left Senegal’s camp at the African Cup of Nations to be with his family at this devastating time.

After scoring on his maiden Forest start, Omobamidele headed over to the bench and grabbed something.

It was a shirt that had Kouyate’s name and number written on it and the words ‘Thinking of you’, which was picked up on ITV.

Omobamidele was handed a chance to play for Forest tonight after failing to make a single appearance so far.

The player signed for Forest on deadline day for a fee in the region of £15 million from Norwich.

He’s been on the fringes of the first-team since arriving but tonight was the first time he managed to get on the pitch.
