Steve Hodge has raved about Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood after last night’s 3-2 win over Blackpool in the FA Cup.

Well, it would appear that the man who served Forest with distinction as a player was impressed with Wood last night.

However, he felt that he did something which he should be doing given his role in the team.

Forest had to succumb to some pressure from the League One outfit at Bloomfield Road, with Blackpool coming from 2-0 down to secure extra time.

Wood came up trumps though, getting himself into position to tap home from a Ryan Yates cross in the 110th minute.

Hodge raved about Wood live on air after his goal that saw Forest set up a fourth-round tie with Bristol City.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “That’s what centre forwards have got to do, he got into the right place at the right.”

The 32-year-old is now on eight goals for the campaign and soon some Forest fans are going to have to admit defeat.

Okay, it’s alarming that Forest decided to pay Wood a salary of £100,000-a-week but ultimately that is good work if you can get it.

Wood is scoring goals right now and once again in the FA Cup, he was on hand to settle this one.

The striker has been around the block and the criticism will be something that he doest pay too much attention to.

All Wood can keep doing is working hard and getting into these positions to score even more goals for Forest.

If he does that, he will continue to silence his critics which on some occasions have been frankly unfair and uncalled for.
