Marseille are now making a serious effort to prise Nuno Tavares away from Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window.
This is according to L’Equipe.
So, what is the situation with Tavares and what has gone wrong for him at Forest? Let’s take a closer look…
Marseille hold concrete interest in Nuno Tavares
Well, it’s fair to say that Marseille fancy Tavares to do something with them that he couldn’t do at Forest when it comes to replacing Renan Lodi.
Lodi recently signed for Saudi outfit Al Hilal ending a six-month association with Marseille and the Ligue 1 outfit now requires a replacement.
According to L’Equipe, Tavares is in the club’s sights, with Arsenal considering recalling him from Forest if a buyer can be sought.

The 23-year-old has found his time at Forest a frustrating one since checking in during the summer transfer window.
He’s started twice and come off the bench twice during the current Premier League campaign, with limited success.
On Saturday, he started and played the full 90 minutes as the Reds lost 3-2 to Brentford.
Forest would be wise to send Tavares back
When adding loan players to a squad it’s important that they represent an upgrade on what is currently in the squad.
It’s not unfair to say that Tavares doesn’t really provide that at Forest, with Ola Aina and Harry Toffolo arguably better.
As a result, Forest would be very wise to cease their deal with Tavares before the window closes this month.
His departure would free up space in the squad and would allow Forest the chance to go and land a player or two that they really need.
Tavares has barely played for Forest this season and if Marseille are keen to sign him, it’s surely only a matter of time before Arsenal decide to recall him.
