Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall is now being eyed for a transfer by Sheffield United before the transfer window closes.

This is according to Team Talk.

So, what is the situation with Worrall and will Forest offload him this month? Let’s take a closer look…

Sheffield United want Forest defender Joe Worrall

Well, it would appear as though the days could be numbered for Worrall as a Forest player.

According to Team Talk, Chris Wilder is keen to take him to Sheffield United as the Blades aim to stay in the Premier League.

Worrall has fallen way down the pecking order at Forest and it now appears as though Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t fancy him either.

It was claimed earlier this season that Worrall had fallen out with Steve Cooper and that was the reason for his absence from the team.

Worrall earned a shot under Espirito Santo against Blackpool in the FA Cup but he was dropped again for the replay last week.

The 27-year-old has made 226 appearances for Forest but since October he’s managed one minute in the Premier League.

Forest must let captain leave this month

With the recent financial revelations coming to light at the City Ground, the club must be savvy in the market this month.

With that in mind, Forest have to seriously consider offloading Worrall if he’s not going to play under Espirito Santo.

Sheffield United might be considered rivals for relegation, although they remain 10 points adrift of Forest at the foot of the table.

Forest will take a strong stance at the negotiation table if the club does decide to sell.

It was only earlier this season when the club decided to hand Worrall a new long-term contract and there will be no pressure to sell.

Worrall is behind a number of players when everyone is available and it’s no surprise to see him struggle for football at Forest.

If offloading him allows the club to strengthen a number of other areas then this sale would make perfect sense from a business perspective.
