Kelvin Wilson has questioned Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner after another error in Saturday’s defeat to Brentford.

The man who served Forest as a player was speaking to the Forest Focus podcast.

So, what has Wilson said about Forest goalkeeper Turner after the weekend? Let’s take a closer look…

What Kelvin Wilson has said about Forest stopper Matt Turner

Well, it’s fair to say that the man who played for Forest under Billy Davies isn’t particularly fond of Turner’s work between the posts.

Turner has made high-profile errors for Forest against Liverpool and Manchester United this season and he didn’t cover himself in glory again on Saturday.

The 29-year-old allowed Ivan Toney to sidefoot a free kick around his feeble wall to give Brentford parity in the contest.

Wilson believes that Forest’s current goalkeeper situation could actually rob them of their status as a Premier League club if it’s not resolved.

He told the Forest Focus podcast: “Without being disrespectful, it’s definitely a backward step in that position. I think it’s really important if Forest are to stay in the league then they need to get a goalkeeper this month, I honestly think that.

“I know it sounds disrespectful to Turner but his form isn’t up to scratch for where Forest need to be. Being a goalkeeper these days it’s not just about your hands and the saves you make, you’ve got to be able to play now.

“If that’s the way Forest want to play with Nuno, it’s going to be important. If they don’t get one I’d stick with Turner, they can’t keep swapping it. I just feel with Turner he looks nervous before games.”

Forest need a goalkeeper – but they’re unlikely to get one

Nuno Espirito Santo will want to add a couple of players at least to his squad this month as he bids to keep Forest in the Premier League.

Ultimately, a goalkeeper might be in his sights, but the club might not sanction the signing of a new one.

Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos signed for a combined £20 million in the summer and Forest might insist he works with the duo.

Jose Sa is one player who been linked with Forest but right now, he’s the number one custodian at Wolves.

Forest have other areas that could do with reinforcing and perhaps a new goalkeeper will have to remain on the back burner for now.
