Nottingham Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis will now return to England to join EFL outfit Watford on loan until June.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what is the situation with Forest forward Dennis? We’ve taken a closer look…

Watford set to sign Nottingham Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis

Well, it looked for all the world in the summer as though Forest would end up keeping Dennis before Istanbul Basaksehir came in for him.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old is returning to England and will take a 70% pay cut to re-sign for Watford on loan.

The player signed for Forest from the Hornets in the summer of 2022 – costing the club around £15 million.

Dennis managed just two goals for Forest during his time at the club and trained with the B-Team during the pre-season campaign.

The forward has endured a pretty bleak spell in Istanbul and failed to register a single goal contribution during this time in Turkey.

His time at Watford proved successful though as he bagged 10 goals from 37 appearances in the Premier League.

Forest have to offload striker who isn’t required

Given a lack of options in the Forest squad right now, it’s perhaps a little surprising that Dennis isn’t going to get another shot under a new head coach.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to sign his own players this month and Chris Wood is bang in form right now.

Dennis can do a job out wide but in a 4-2-3-1 system perhaps Espirito Santo is keen to sign a different type of player.

With financial fair play monitoring Forest closely, it can only be a good thing to get some more wages away from the spreadsheet.

Dennis has largely flattered to deceive at Forest and it will now be interesting to see how he goes back at Watford.
