Nottingham Forest are locked in a three-way battle to sign PSG striker Hugo Ekitike on loan before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

This is according to Le 10 Sport.

So, what has been said about Forest and their interest in Ekitike? Let’s take a closer look…

Nottingham Forest want PSG striker Hugo Ekitike

The striker is down the pecking order with the Parisian giants and he could be on the move before the forthcoming deadline.

According to Le 10 Sport, Forest sit in a three-way battle to try and bring Ekitike to the City Ground this month.

Wolves offer some further interest from the Premier League, with Eintracht Frankfurt the other club to show a desire to sign him.

It’s thought that Forest are in discussions with PSG over Ekitike, however, with the Reds keen on a loan-to-buy deal.

Forest are going to have to cut their cloth accordingly this month and big spending is unlikely to take place.

Yesterday, it came to light that Orel Mangala would like to stay at Forest and that’s a bit of a blow when it comes to the club raking in some income.

Who is Hugo Ekitike?

The striker signed for PSG on a permanent deal in the summer, having spent time on loan with the Parisian giants from Stade Reims.

The Forest-linked Ekitike was a product of the club’s youth system with the Ligue 1 outfit and after graduating to senior football, he scored 11 goals in 28 games.

His time at PSG has seen him struggle to pin down a regular place in the starting eleven, amid a plethora of attacking talent at the club.

During 2023/24, he’s made just one appearance for PSG and hasn’t even been made a matchday squad since August.

Who Scored shows that his main strengths are dribbling, long shots and getting back to defend.

Furthermore, his manager at Reims, Oscar Garcia, called him ‘very special’ when he was playing under his stewardship.

Rumour rating: 7/10 – It goes without saying that Forest would welcome another striker and a younger option would be a nice addition to the squad.

However, Eikitike would be a little bit risky given that he’s barely played football all season.

With Chris Wood in good form and Taiwo Awoniyi on the comeback trail from injury, a loan deal for a younger option like Ekitike perhaps does make a bit of sense from a Forest perspective.
