Nottingham Forest are now keen on signing West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet before the transfer deadline on Thursday.
This news comes from Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail.
So, what has been said about the future of Cornet at West Ham – and where do Forest come in? Let’s take a closer look…
Nottingham Forest want Maxwel Cornet on loan
Well, it would appear as though Forest have to cut their cloth accordingly this month and with no sales as of yet, the Reds might have to beg, borrow – or steal!
Now, according to Sami Mokbel at the Daily Mail, Forest are in the mood to take Cornet on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
West Ham are in the market for a winger of their own this month, with Jota on their list of transfer targets.

Any new recruits in that area of the pitch will likely further hamper Cornet’s chances of game time and he could be allowed out on loan.
Cornet has made just 10 appearances for the Hammers this season. He scored last time out in the Premier League as West Ham drew with Sheffield United.
It’s fair to say that he’s been a peripheral figure under David Moyes, however, and a loan move to Forest could be on the cards for Cornet.
Who is Maxwel Cornet?
The Ivory Coast international moved to Burnley from Lyon in 2021 and hit the ground running.
He scored nine goals and claimed two assists from 28 appearances for the Clarets; earning a move to West Ham.
Forest actually tried to sign Cornet in 2022 following promotion to the Premier League but the 30-cap star rejected Steve Cooper.
Roy Keane is also a big fan of Cornet. He called the Forest-linked player ‘fantastic’ following a quality performance for Burnley shortly after he’d arrived.
Cornet’s record at Lyon was actually steady too. He made over 250 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit and scored 51 goals for the club.
Rumour rating: 8/10 – In our view, there is a lot to like about this particular deal, with Forest in need of a wide option.
Cornet knows the Premier League and earning £64,000-a-week, it’s hardly like a short-term loan is going to break the bank.
At 27-years-old, Cornet is at a nice age and we feel this signing could really help Forest for the remainder of the season.
