Nottingham Forest are set to conclude the signing of Strasbourg goalkeeper Matz Sels, with the player now arriving at the City Ground.

This update comes from Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports.

So, what is the latest regarding Sels and his move to Forest? Let’s have a closer look at the situation…

Matz Sels set to sign for Nottingham Forest

Well, it looks as though this one is close to being completed ahead of the transfer deadline.

According to Rob Dorsett, the goalkeeper is now set to join the Reds after completing his medical.

The player has been spotted arriving at the City Ground and Sels just needs to complete the formalities.

Sels is going to cost Forest £5 million and he will join Matt Turner, Odysseas Vlachodimos and Wayne Hennessey as senior goalkeepers.

The 31-year-old is a player who has been at Strasbourg for five years since checking in from Newcastle.

He kept five clean sheets in 14 appearances at St James’ Park and he could come up against his previous club later this month.

In Ligue 1, Sels has played 175 times for Strasbourg but will now get another crack at English football.

He has captained the team during the current campaign and his leadership qualities should be a useful asset to Forest.

Forest set to land priority signing

It’s been evident for a little while now that Forest are in dire need of a new goalkeeper – and Sels is the man they’ve selected.

At 31, this doesn’t feel like a long-term fix and perhaps a top-quality goalkeeper will be identified in the summer.

Still, Sels will be judged on his performances for Forest and it’s fair to say that he can’t be any worse than Matt Turner.

Forest will need a strong goalkeeper to have any chance of survival this season and hopefully, Sels can prove his worth to the team.
