Nottingham Forest defender Serge Aurier has now agreed to sign for Galatasaray on transfer deadline day.

This news comes from Fabrizio Romano.

So, what exactly has been said about Aurier and his Forest future? Let’s take a closer look…

Serge Aurier to leave Nottingham Forest for Galatasaray

Well, it has to be said that this one has come out of the blue a little bit.

Aurier leaving Forest probably wasn’t in the script for this transfer window, although it doesn’t feel like a bad piece of business.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aurier has now agreed personal terms with Galatasaray ahead of a move to Istanbul.

Now, the formalities are being finalised and the deal should go through before the end of the transfer window.

Last season, he was brilliant as Steve Cooper’s team survived relegation but this season he’s struggled for minutes.

Now, Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo is going to get rid of Aurier again – just like he did when he was the manager of Tottenham.

Aurier departure makes perfect sense

This is a good deal from a Forest perspective with a number of right-backs in place at the club and Aurier out of contract in the summer.

The Reds will likely get a small fee for Aurier but perhaps more crucially the club will get his £43,000-a-week wage away from the wage bill.

Forest sill have some work to complete of their own on transfer deadline day.

However, streamlining the squad would definitely be ideal and getting rid of Aurier ahead of his contract expiring makes a lot of sense.

Forest were a better team with Aurier in it last season and he deserves the chance to move on if Espirito Santo isn’t going to play him.
