Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala is now one step away from signing for Ligue 1 outfit Lyon on transfer deadline day.
This is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what has the transfer guru said about Forest midfielder Mangala? Let’s take a closer look…
Orel Mangala to leave Nottingham Forest for Lyon
The 25-year-old is set to embark on a new challenge in France and some details have now emerged regarding the deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the player will join Lyon on an initial loan deal until the end of the season – and will hold an option to make it permanent.
Forest won’t be getting quite as much as they first anticipated for Mangala. Lyon will pay around £8 million to sign him on loan, with a further £12 million due if they want to buy him.

Mangala has made over 50 appearances for Forest after signing for the club for around £12 million in the summer of 2022.
Now, the game against Arsenal looks to have been his final appearance for the club, with the player a single step away from signing for Lyon.
Mangala departure raises much-needed funds
Okay, so it’s not as much as Forest first thought they were going to receive but this still feels like a pretty good deal for the club.
Clearly, Forest want to make sure that the finances are in their favour at the end of the window and now the club has some wriggle room.
It’s no secret that Forest want a goalkeeper today and hopefully, this will allow the club to get something sorted in that sense.
Mangala has proved a useful addition to the Forest squad but with options in the middle of the park, this doesn’t feel like a bad deal at all in our minds.
