Nottingham Forest are considering a last-minute bid to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah – much like the club tried to in the summer.

This news comes from the Daily Mail.

So, what is the ongoing situation with Chalobah and will he sign for Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

Nottingham Forest could move for Chelsea player Trevoh Chalobah

Well, it’s hard not to feel a small sense of deja vu with this link doing the rounds once again.

Back in the summer, Steve Cooper was keen to sign Chalobah from Chelsea and the club bid £25 million on transfer deadline day.

Now, six months down the line, Forest could go back to the table for Chalobah, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old hasn’t been a part of the Chelsea squad under Mauricio Pochettino and an exit would be sanctioned today.

Forest are keen to ensure they’re well-stocked across the board and now they could move for Chalobah before the window closes.

Rio Ferdinand has previously called Chalobah ‘unbelievable’ and he’s made 63 appearances for the Stamford Bridge giants.

Forest don’t really need another central defender

This deal is likely to depend on any potential outgoings that might take place – with Joe Worrall wanted by Sheffield United.

At the moment, Forest are pretty well-stocked in defence and once Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly return from the African Cup of Nations things will look even rosier.

As a result, signing Chalobah perhaps doesn’t make a deal of sense from a Forest perspective.

Furthermore, he’s not played a great deal of football for a considerable amount of time and his injury record hasn’t been great.

Although Chalobah is at a decent age as a 24-year-old, the time perhaps isn’t right for Forest to head down this avenue today.
