The owner of Alanyaspor has confirmed that he’s now signed Hwang Ui-jo from Nottingham Forest – and it’s been two years in the making.

These quotes come from the club’s official website.

So, what has been said about Hwang and his move away from Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

Owner confirms he’s signed Hwang Ui-jo from Nottingham Forest

Well, it would seem as though Hwang has now signed for the Turkish team with owner, Hasan Cavusoglu confirming the deal.

The 31-year-old hasn’t played for Forest in a competitive game, although he did make the bench in the early weeks of the 2023/24 campaign.

Now, the striker will spend the remainder of the campaign in Turkey with Alanyaspor where he will hope to star.

Cavusoglu told the club’s official website: “We added centre-forward Hwang Ui-jo from Nottingham Forest to our squad.

“He is also one of the team captains of the South Korean national team.

“We believe that it will be beneficial to our club. Our scout team was following him. About two years ago, his transfer was not possible because the costs were too high for our club.”

Hwang seemed bizarre from the off

The signing of a 30-year-old Hwang from Bordeaux seems completely pointless from the off from a Forest perspective.

At the time, heads were scratched as supporters tried to work out where Hwang fitted into a Premier League squad at Forest.

Shortly after arriving he signed for Olympiacos on loan and finished last season with FC Seoul.

He began this season on loan with Norwich and scored three goals before a hamstring injury curtailed his progress.

Hwang subsequently returned to Forest but has now moved to Turkey with Alanyaspor.

The owner is clearly a huge fan and hopefully, this is a deal that can become permanent in the summer transfer window.
