Joe Worrall has today spoken for the first time on his departure from Nottingham Forest – and it appears that he’s got his heart set on playing for the club again.

The departed captain has been speaking with TalkSPORT earlier today.

So, what has Worrall said about his exit from Forest? Let’s take a look…

Joe Worrall discusses Nottingham Forest exit and future plans

Well, it would appear that Worrall is excited to get going at his new club – with playing regular football at the forefront of his mind.

Worrall had fallen way down the pecking order at Forest, with Nuno Espirito Santo utilising him just twice since replacing Steve Cooper.

A final appearance for Worrall came from the bench during a 3-2 win over Blackpool in the FA Cup and he’s craving regular action.

However, it doesn’t appear as though Worrall has closed the door on Forest just yet.

He said live on TalkSPORT: “I signed a new contract extension but obviously my game time was limited with the new manager coming in and the direction that the club wanted to go in.

“That’s the aim, I’ve played two games under Nuno but no we’re well stocked at Forest there’s a lot of talent and a lot of good players at Forest.

“For me, it’s all about getting match fit and me sitting there is doing nobody any favours so it’s all about playing games and then we’ll see.”

Worrall will do well to win another City Ground opportunity

In fairness to Worrall, he’s grasped the chance to go out and play and it’s hard to knock him for that.

Reports claimed that Worrall fell out with Steve Cooper when he was managing the team and that saw him fall down the pecking order.

If Forest were to be relegated this season then perhaps Worrall would be the ideal player to come in and spearhead another season in the Championship.

However, if the Reds remain a Premier League club, it’s hard to imagine Worrall featuring for the club again.

It’s nothing against the player and as an academy graduate, he’s achieved a dream of captaining the club in the Premier League.

However, he’s hit the nail on the head when it comes to the fact that better players are currently in place at Forest.

Now, all he can do is rediscover his best form at Besiktas and then see what the future holds in the summer.
