Cagliari sporting director Nereo Bonato has claimed that Nottingham Forest beat Fiorentina to the signature of Gio Reyna.
He has been speaking with Fiorentina.it.
So, what has been said by Bonato regarding Forest and their move to sign Reyna in January? Let’s take a closer look…
What Nereo Bonato has said about Forest signing Gio Reyna
Well, it would seem as though Forest fought off some high-profile competition to land the young attacker.
Now, it’s also come to light that Forest did actually make the highest offer and managed to persuade the player to sign.
Bonato believes that the Reds were up against it to sign Reyna but the player’s decision ultimately trumped anything else.
He told Fiorentina.it: “There were Gudmundsson and Reyna who were Fiorentina’s big targets and we had seen in the Viola manager’s desire to get there at all costs.
“Unfortunately, Nottingham Forest made a higher offer for Reyna. We had to adapt to these choices.”

Reyna made his home debut yesterday and in our view, he showcased a few touches that showcase that he could become a decent addition.
Forest will hope to stay up and keep top talent
Although Reyna has extended his deal by a year before joining Forest on loan there is perhaps enough to suggest that Dortmund may consider a sale.
Reyna will have to get himself into the team first on a consistent basis and then he will hope to grasp his chance to shine.
The 21-year-old has a reasonable amount of experience for a youngster, making 121 appearances for Dortmund during his time at the club.
Reyna has fallen down the pecking order with the Bundesliga outfit, however, and regular football will be in his sights with Forest.
The Reds are somewhat short of attacking options and hopefully, Reyna can settle quickly and help Forest remain in the Premier League.
