‘Had a shocker’… Pundit thinks he knows why Nottingham Forest didn’t get a penalty vs Newcastle

Richard Keys has taken a firm swipe at referee Anthony Taylor after his performance as Nottingham Forest lost to Newcastle on Saturday.

The pundit made the claim on his own personal blog.

So, what has Keys had to say about Taylor after he failed to award Forest a penalty during Saturday’s 3-2 defeat? Let’s take a closer look…

What Richard Keys has said about Anthony Taylor after Forest defeat

Well, it would appear that Keys is firmly on the side of the Forest supporters with this one and Taylor’s performance has left him incensed.

The referee failed to give Forest a penalty when Taiwo Awoniyi was clearly fouled in the second half – with VAR not willing to help him out.

Keys believes that the technology and the referee, Taylor, had a stinker on Saturday and completely understands the frustration from the Forest fans.

He told his own personal blog: “Anthony Taylor had a shocker at Forest. What was it he didn’t see when Dubravka took Awoniyi down? It was a pen. Taylor was actually looking at it. VAR froze – of course, they did.

“Like Michael Oliver – Taylor doesn’t take kindly to having his decision-making questioned by people he regards as inferior to him. This is another problem with VAR. And we know this because Mike Dean said as much earlier in the season.”

PGMOL can’t send referee to Forest again

In our view, it’s getting beyond a joke now!

The Premier League is supposed to be the greatest league in the world but some of the officiating has been nothing short of dreadful.

Taylor gave a soft penalty against Forest striker Chris Wood when Brighton came to the City Ground back in November and yet he didn’t give Awoniyi one on Saturday.

VAR is seemingly incapable of rectifying terrible mistakes and frankly, Keys makes a great point over why he thinks Awoniyi didn’t get the penalty.

No Forest fan is suggesting that the performance of the team was faultless, as defensively lots of mistakes were made.

However, this decision came at 2-2 and had Forest gone in front, it could have been a completely different game altogether.
