Gary Neville has taken aim at the decision made by Mark Clattenburg to join Nottingham Forest.

The pundit has been speaking with Sky Sports.

So, what has Neville had to say about Clattenburg taking a new role at Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

What Gary Neville has said about Mark Clattenburg taking Forest job

Well, it would appear as though Neville isn’t a huge fan of the decision taken by the former Premier League referee.

Clattenburg has been appointed by Forest as a performance analyst and he will compile reports on officials.

Neville can’t believe that he’s taken up such a role – although he has reiterated that he doesn’t want this to sound like a dig at Forest.

He told Sky Sports: “What is he doing? I’ve worked with Mark, what are you doing? You’re being employed to go and tell a football club how referees are making mistakes or what mistakes they’re making.

“I’m disappointed with Nottingham Forest. It’s as if, ‘Look at all of this, woe is me’. I get it some teams feel they’ve been hard done to, some teams feel like they’ve had bad decisions against them. That happens sometimes during a season and I would’ve hated it.

“But to employ an ex-referee to tell you why you’re having decisions against you. For me, it’s a step too far. That’s not an attack on Nottingham Forest fans because some of them will probably think it’s embarrassing.”

Neville made to look a little silly with these comments

Ultimately, Neville asked the question regarding what Clattenburg would be doing at Forest and now it would appear as though we have some answers.

The man who has refereed a Champions League Final is going to be helping to educate Forest and compile reports on a number of officials.

This should help Forest manage in-game situations better and ultimately this could be a good thing.

It’s alright for Neville. He is a Manchester United supporter and it’s very rare that his club finds themselves on the end of such poor officiating.

Forest haven’t been quite so fortunate. Perhaps more clubs towards the foot of the Premier League will be making similar appointments if this goes well.
