Shay Given delivered his verdict on Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga as the Reds beat West Ham 2-0 at the City Ground.
The pundit was speaking to Match of the Day on Saturday night.
So, what did Given actually say about Forest forward Elanga? Let’s take a closer look…
What Shay Given said about Anthony Elanga during Forest win
Well, it wasn’t a particularly memorable day for the Sweden international – even if he did finish with an impromptu assist.
Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the second Forest goal after a cross from Neco Williams had ricocheted off Elanga into the winger’s path.
In terms of his overall play, that was also pretty good but it’s fair to say that the player didn’t have his shooting boots on.
Given noticed that too and as a reel was shown featuring several misses, he delivered a verdict on Elanga.
He told Match of the Day: “Elanga probably won’t want to watch Match of the Day tonight. He’s missed a lot of chances in this one!”
Elanga will bounce back from West Ham clash
In our view, this is nothing to be concerned about and Elanga is probably due a wasteful game for Forest!
He did miss some strong chances at the weekend but ultimately it didn’t matter one bit, with Forest claiming three points.
Elanga fired one chance over from close range when it looked easier to score but he’s produced the goods more often than not this season.
The 21-year-old is still learning essentially and he will have days like the one he did on Saturday.
Elanga has been a quality signing for Forest since signing for £15 million from Manchester United in the summer.
He’s scored five goals and claimed seven assists during the campaign and is very much integral to Nuno Espirito Santo.
