Nottingham Forest defender Jamie Carragher has lauded Murillo for his efforts since arriving at the City Ground.

The pundit has been discussing the Brazilian on Monday Night Football.

So, what has Carragher had to say about Forest central defender Murillo? Let’s take a closer look…

What Jamie Carragher has said about Forest defender Murillo

Well, it would appear that he’s very impressed by what he’s seen from the young Brazilian so far at Forest.

Murillo was courted by Manchester City before he signed for Forest for £10.4 million in the summer.

He has been ever-present in the Forest starting eleven since he made his debut in the Premier League during a 1-1 draw against Brentford.

Now, Carragher has been discussing his impact and he’s a huge fan of the uncompromising defender.

He told Monday Night Football: “I remember being a young lad going in myself at Liverpool and it’s an unforgiving position, I had to go to full-back for the next three or four years and then go back to centre-back, so you can see the quality we have.”

“(Jarrod) Branthwaite has been outstanding, Murillo I think has been outstanding too.”

Forest have a diamond in bargain defender

For a certain section of the Forest fan base, it has been quite trendy to constantly bash the club’s recruitment policy.

At times, Forest have done some things that leave a lot to be desired – but Murillo is evidence that they’ve got certain stuff right in the market.

The South American market is definitely one that the club have been keen to tap into, with Murillo a roaring success.

He’s showcased some unreal qualities since checking in and the scary thing about him is that he’s only 21-years-old.

Nuno Espirito Santo has given him the chance to continue the fine form that he showcased under Steve Cooper since he came to the club.

In our view, he’s benefitting from regular football and long may his solid form continue at Forest.
