Well, it would appear as though the pundit is a huge fan of Forest striker Awoniyi and he believes he might keep the club up again.
Awoniyi scored 11 times last season as the Reds avoided relegation and he’s managed six during the current campaign.
Carragher was seriously impressed with Awoniyi as he scored against West Ham at the weekend – and raved about him last night.
He told Monday Night Football: “The first touch is unbelievable centre-forward play. Holding the centre-back off because don’t forget he’s got no space, he knows the goalkeeper is going to be converging on him.
“I’m a huge fan of his. His goals towards the end of the season kept Forest up and he could do the same again.”
Awoniyi is very much the main man on Trentside
If the 26-year-old striker stays fit, the consensus is that Forest will remain in the Premier League again this season.
Awoniyi changes the way Forest plays and the physicality he brings is unrivalled in the current squad.
Since checking in from Union Berlin he has been a constant menace for the Reds and at £17.5 million, he looks like a steal.
The challenge for Awoniyi has always been the same since he came to the Premier League with Forest and it’s ensuring that he stays fit.
He’s endured two lengthy lay-offs during his time at the club and Awoniyi will now hope to stay fit for Forest this season.
