Nottingham Forest were knocked out of the FA Cup last night and Jermaine Jenas had some critique for Taiwo Awoniyi.

The pundit was covering the game for BBC One.

So, what did Jenas have to say about Forest star Awoniyi during the defeat to Manchester United? Let’s take a closer look…

What Jermaine Jenas said about Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi

With Wayne Rooney also on the panel alongside Jenas and Gary Lineker, the three had plenty to say about Awoniyi.

Lineker raved about Awoniyi but Jenas felt that last night that the Forest man wasn’t quite at his very best in front of goal.

The 26-year-old did miss some chances but nothing that could really be considered as a sitter as such.

Jenas felt that Awoniyi just needed to take a little bit more care when it came to being in front of the goal.

The former Forest player told BBC One: “I just didn’t see it happening for them. Again, here, Awoniyi causes problems all game but he just needs that extra bit of finesse, to find the corner. It’s like he’s just swinging at it all of the time and that extra bit of quality is just not quite there.”

Awoniyi is integral to fortunes under Nuno Espirito Santo

The head coach will hope that Awoniyi doesn’t have too many frustrating games like this between now and the end of the season for Forest.

With Chris Wood injured, Forest need their striker fit and firing as the team bids to pull clear of the relegation zone.

With Everton getting four points back this week, Forest are now just four points clear of the drop zone in the Premier League.

Awoniyi is very much the main man for Forest in attack and he will go again when Liverpool arrive at the weekend.

Jenas is perhaps right but in our view, this is nothing to really worry about, with Awoniyi proving his class time and time again.
