Stephen Warnock thinks Nottingham Forest are missing a trick with Mark Clattenburg and his appointment as Referee Analyst.
The pundit has been speaking on Sky Sports News show Ref Watch this morning.
So, what has Warnock said about Forest and their appointment of Clattenburg? Let’s take a closer look…
What Stephen Warnock thinks Nottingham Forest should do with Mark Clattenburg
Well, on this morning’s Ref Watch talks turned towards the error from Paul Tierney at the weekend that led to Forest losing the game.
Dermot Gallagher referred to the role of Clattenburg and explained that he couldn’t be permitted to speak with the referee because he wasn’t on the team sheet.
Ultimately, that notion has given Warnock some food for thought and he feels that Forest are missing a trick.
He told Ref Watch on Sky Sports News: “Why wouldn’t you put him on the teamsheet as the designated person to speak with the referee?
“As the man who understands the laws and gets the game, that’s what baffles me. Why is he there then?

“Why wouldn’t you put him on the designated teamsheet as the person to speak to the ref? He’d have every right then to go in and see him then.”
Warnock has a point regarding Clattenburg
Well, this is a fair assessment from Warnock and it’s intriguing why Forest aren’t naming Clattenburg on the team sheet.
It’s already been explained what Clatteburg does at Forest but going forward perhaps there is scope for him to do more.
Had Clattenburg been able to challenge Tierney on Saturday, at least Forest would have some sort of understanding over why he came to the decision he did.
Forest have to park this one now and prepare to face Brighton next weekend.
Given these comments from Warnock it does ask the question over whether Forest will consider giving Clattenburg more responsibility in the future.
