Graeme Bailey believes Nottingham Forest could be interested in signing Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson this summer.

Forest will look to address their goalkeeping situation again this summer, with Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos seemingly on borrowed time.

Bailey has now shared that the Sunderland goalkeeper could be among the custodians that Forest take a look at during the transfer window.

Graeme Bailey thinks Nottingham Forest would be interested in Anthony Patterson

Well, this could be an interesting one, with a host of clubs set to be interested in signing Patterson from Sunderland this summer.

The goalkeeper has come through the ranks at the Stadium of Light and he’s made 113 appearances for the senior team.

HITC Insider Graeme Bailey has told Nottingham Forest News that Patterson is likely to be a name that will be on the Forest radar when the transfer window opens again.

He said: “We know Liverpool are looking around as well at potential new signings.

“Anthony Patterson at Sunderland is one who I imagine would be very high on the Forest radar as well and a lot of clubs in the Premier League are looking at him.

“Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are looking at him, he’s homegrown and he’s a very good keeper so keep an eye on him as well.”

Who is Anthony Patterson?

The 23-year-old is widely tipped as a player who will become a Premier League star at some point in his career.

Last season, Tony Mowbray waxed lyrical about the custodian on a number of occasions, calling him ‘amazing’ following some heroics against Fulham in the FA Cup.

Interestingly, Patterson is rather familiar with Nottingham, with the player making 11 appearances for Notts County on loan.

Who Scored shows that Patterson doesn’t have any major weaknesses to note and cites strong concentration as his main attribute.

Patterson could prove quality for Forest

The first port of call for the Reds will be to stay in the Premier League but after that, it will be full steam ahead for a new goalkeeper.

Matz Sels has done okay since arriving at the club but he might not be viewed as a long-term fix between the posts.

Turner and Vlachodimos haven’t proved successful and both players could be offloaded during the summer.

Sels will remain at the club next season but an upgrade could be identified as a number one and Patterson could be ideal.

The player would help Forest meet their homegrown criteria and at 23, he could establish himself as the number one at the City Ground for many years.
