FC Copenhagen manager Jacob Neestrup has raved about Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna.

The boss has been speaking to BBC Sport as he prepares his team to play Manchester City tonight.

So, what has Neestrup said about Forest-owned defender McKenna? Let’s take a closer look…

What Jacob Neestrup has said about Forest centre-back Scott McKenna

Well, it would appear that the 27-year-old is busy making waves in Denmark after his surprise January move.

McKenna has played four times for Copenhagen since checking in on loan from Forest in January.

Tonight, he will look to help the Danish champions come from 3-1 behind and knock Manchester City out of the Champions League.

Neestrup is happy to have landed McKenna from Forest and he’s a huge fan of the defender it would seem.

He told BBC Sport: “He’s calm and mature. It’s simplicity in a positive way. He is a defender with a capital D!

“He has had a very good start in Copenhagen and I see him grow from one level to where he is now.

“He will become even stronger in terms of reaching our goals for the spring in Copenhagen.”

What does the future hold for Scott McKenna?

Well, this is an intriguing question and much will depend on what happens to Forest this season.

If the Reds remain as a Premier League football club then McKenna is likely to be moved on permanently in the summer.

However, if Forest are relegated to the Championship then the 27-year-old would be a very useful asset in the second tier.

McKenna has already excelled in that division for Forest. He was the Player of the Year when Forest won promotion; winning the Man of the Match accolade in the Play-Off Final.

However, the damage might have been done as far as McKenna is concerned and there were some discussions over his contract situation.

The stumbling block for Forest is that McKenna is out of contract in the summer.

As a result, agreeing on a new one could prove problematic and perhaps there is more chance that McKenna is now finished with Forest.

Whatever happens, he deserves respect and the Scotland star has been a brilliant servant to Forest.
