Strasbourg fans were left fuming in January when Matz Sels was sold to Nottingham Forest with just hours of the transfer deadline remaining.
This comes from a report in The Athletic.
So, what has been said about Forest and their deal to sign the goalkeeper in January? Let’s take a closer look…
Strasbourg fans were fuming when Forest signing Sels
Well, it would appear as though the 32-year-old has his heart set on a move away from the Ligue 1 outfit – and they were powerless when it came to letting him go.
According to The Athletic, Strasbourg rejected a bid for Sels two yeas ago and that had left the player frustrated with the French outfit.
The club managed to convince him to sign a new deal – with the player agreeing as long as they’d sanction a transfer if another bid came in.

Fast forward two years and Forest making the bid prompted Strasbourg to keep their word, with Sels setting his heart on a move to Forest.
This wasn’t received well by the club’s supporters.
In the report, it explains that Strasbourg fans were incensed that the club had allowed Sels to head to Forest, feeling that the ownership had interfered.
Sels now settling at the City Ground
The player is a massive upgrade on Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos and he’s now starting to showcase what he’s all about.
On Saturday against Liverpool, he was very unlucky not to keep a clean sheet after making a stunning stop in injury time.
Sels might not be a long-term option at Forest. He has signed a decent contract with the club, but the Reds might address the balance of the goalkeepers again in the summer.
For now, the Belgian is the number one custodian and Forest need Sels to come up trumps this season.
It’s interesting that Strasbourg fans were gutted to lose him and it would appear that with a run of games, the goalkeeper could really showcase his class at Forest.
