Steve Cook moved to QPR from Nottingham Forest in the summer and last night he blasted referee Geoff Eltringham.

The R’s drew 2-2 with promotion-chasing West Brom in the Championship – but they were denied a stonewall chance to win.

So, what did former Forest defender Cook say after last night’s draw? Let’s take a closer look…

Steve Cook blasts referee after QPR draw

The centre-back was always the type of player to say exactly what he felt when he was at Forest, with Cook a very popular figure.

Last night, it was a big night for QPR as they played their first home game since the sad passing of the legendary Stan Bowles.

On Saturday, Cook helped his team beat current league leaders Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Last night, they were robbed of a chance to claim another scalp when referee Eltringham failed to spot a clear handball on the line by Cedric Kipre.

Afterwards, former Forest star Cook told Sky Sports: “It was a blatant handball from Kipre and it’s a terrible, terrible decision by the referee. We were unfortunate.”

Cook slams officials and Forest will know how he feels

Welcome to our world, Steve. If Richard Keys is right, Forest faced the most ‘arrogant’ of all match officials in Paul Tierney on Saturday.

In the Championship at least the officials can use the excuse of only being able to see something once.

With VAR in the Premier League, it’s a sorry state of affairs at the moment and the game isn’t in a great way when it comes to officiating.

Cook is right to feel hard done by last night and he was always the type of player to say what he thought at Forest.

The centre-back was known to poke fun at Derby on a regular basis and the defender was vital in the team’s promotion-winning campaign.

Forest fans still appreciate the work Cook did and given the week that the Reds have had, they will share the player’s sympathy when it comes to last night’s horrendous decision.
