Nottingham Forest tried hard to sign Renan Lodi permanently in the summer and now he’s a record-breaking, history-making defender.
The defender signed for Marseille instead of Forest – citing a desire to play in the Champions League as his reason for joining the Ligue 1 outfit.
Lodi had to settle for Europa League football instead, with Marseille losing to Panathinaikos over two legs in the qualifying rounds.
Now, former Forest man Lodi is on top of the world and along with his teammates he will sit in the record books.
Former Forest star Renan Lodi part of record-breaking Al-Hilal team
Well, this became a reality last night when Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal broke the world record for the most successive competitive wins in world football.
Lodi played 32 times for Forest last season as the Reds stayed in the Premier League and last night he played in a 3-1 win for his new team against Al-Riyadh.
It was reported on BBC Sport that the 28th win in succession for Al-Hilal has seen them break the world record for most successive wins by a men’s top-flight team.

Lodi’s new club have broken the 27 wins that The New Saints wracked up in 2016.
Forest tried desperately to land Lodi on a permanent basis in the summer – but ultimately his tears after the Reds beat Arsenal 1-0 in May were a sign that he was saying goodbye.
Marseille were the fortunate ones but in January he was poached by Al-Hilal and he’s played in the last four games for his new club.
Forest haven’t replaced fan-favourite left-back
It was always going to be a tough task finding a player to come in and make the impact at Forest which Lodi did.
Intriguingly, Lodi replaced Nuno Tavares at Marseille with the 24-year-old joining Forest on loan for the current campaign.
However, he’s not made anything like the impact which Lodi did and Harry Toffolo has been forced to step in.
Then there is Ola Aina – who has also been tasked with filling the Lodi void.
Although he’s proved a very successful free signing, he’s spent a lot of time injured and it’s particularly natural at left-back.
Although supporters would love to see Lodi strutting his stuff at Forest, it’s still hard not to feel a little bit happy for the defender after this later achievement.
