TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has this morning explained why Nottingham Forest could get off lightly in comparison to Everton when their punishment for breaching profitability and sustainability regulations.
The pundit was live on the radio this morning; with Forest facing a big day in the context of their season.

Alex Crook explains why Nottingham Forest could face more lenient punishment
Well, this is another interesting comment from Crook. He tried to share some information and offer some light on the situation involving Forest earlier this morning.
It’s fascinating that every case is heard differently. Surely it would make more sense for the Premier League to have set punishments for set amounts of losses over the required amount?
That seems too easy though and the Premier League instead like to make hard work for themselves. Crook actually believes that Forest might have put themselves in good shape with their behaviour since the charges were announced.
He said live on TalkSPORT: “I think it depends on the severity of the points deduction. If you look at the way Forest have approached this, they have been a lot less confrontational than Everton were – even in the wording of the statement when they were penalised, it was a very short statement.
“Whereas Everton right away were right on the front foot against the Premier League, Andy Burnham was involved, a big Everton fan from the off as well.
“I think Forest have tried to do this as peacefully as possible hoping that might help when that judgement comes, and if it’s a two-point penalty that keeps them above the bottom three, so they might decide to take their punishment.
“There is a possibility, as unlikely as it sounds, we might not find out who goes down from the Premier League until after the final day of the season.
“Because under Premier League rules, they need to make a final decision on any appeal by May 25th, which is when they are due to hold their AGM, that is after the last round of fixtures.”
Forest will hope and pray for solid outcome
One way or another, Forest simply want to get this nipped in the bud. It’s been hanging over the club for months and hopefully, a resolution can be reached.
If the deduction is any more than three, Forest will drop into the relegation zone and that really would pile the pressure on the players at the club.
It’s interesting that Crook thinks the behaviour of the people at Forest might play into the Premier League’s thinking with this one.
Everton were deducted six points earlier in the season and are also facing more charges for the latest three-year cycle.
Clubs like Brentford, Luton and even Everton will be hoping that the Prmeier League throw the book at Forest when things are announced.
However, these comments from Crook will certainly give Forest fans some hope ahead of the announcement.
