David Ornstein has been explaining why he thinks the Premier League didn’t inform Nottingham Forest of the outcome of their FFP case on Friday.
The reputable journalist who writes for The Athletic was speaking with NBC Sports regarding the incident involving Forest.
So, what has Ornstein had to say about the situation – and when can Forest expect to find out their punishment? Let’s take a closer look…
David Ornstein shares why Forest didn’t find out their fate on Friday
Well, this is only guesswork from Ornstein but Forest should have found out the situation from their case being heard on Friday – seven days after appearing at the hearing.
Instead, the powers that be have chosen to wait and now it looks set to be today when Forest find out how many points they will be deducted.
Ornstein told NBC Sports: “So, their hearing into the breach of financial fair play rules was heard the week before last. We were expecting an outcome within around seven days, which would have been Friday.

“However, in the build-up to their crucial game against Luton on Saturday, I think it was deemed a bit insensitive and therefore they’re going to hear on Monday. That is when Nottingham Forest expect to learn the outcome of this case.
“Forest don’t know what their punishment will be, they are positive, however, they’re hoping for the best outcome but the fact is it’s a guessing game right now.
“Their case has been led by the renowned KC Nick De Marco and he has a pretty good track record.
Forest just want to know the outcome now
The waiting has gone on long enough and the fact it’s taking so long simply suggests they don’t know how to play it.
On one hand, Forest have a right to expect less than the six Everton got but at the same time, the Toffees will be unhappy should that be the case.
Also, Forest have a right to appeal any punishment and the higher the sanction, the more likely it will be that this drags on.
One way or another, Forest – and the other clubs in involves at the bottom of the league, just want some clarity.
Hopefully, Ornstein is on the money once again and some answers can be given to Forest before the close of play today.
