Nottingham Forest were deducted four points on Monday after breaching financial fair play regulations. The Reds are the second team to suffer a deduction this season following Everton losing 10 points earlier in the campaign.
The Toffees were handed four of their points back on appeal. Now, however, it’s been claimed by I News exactly how staff at Goodison Park have been left feeling following the decision on Forest.
Nuno Espirito Santo has had this hanging over his head since the New Year. Ever since it came to light that Forest might be facing a charge, the team’s form has pretty much fallen off a cliff.
Clearly, it’s had an impact on the players and now it could be a case of Forest actually taking the shackles off and winning some games in the Premier League.
How Everton staff felt when they found out about Forest PSR punishment
Well, it’s natural that the two situations will be compared given that these are the first points deductions of their kind in the Premier League. Everton are also facing a second charge in the coming days.
According to I News, it’s claimed that Everton staff weren’t best pleased when they heard about the punishment that Forest had been given on Monday.

Although the outcome does bolster Everton’s survival chances and drops Forest into the dropzone, the report claims that although there hasn’t been anything official from Everton, they’ve been left bewildered.
Everton also failed the PSR during the last cycle and could now be sanctioned again. It would mean a second points deduction should they lose any more and that would be a real worry for the Toffees.
Will Everton be deducted points again?
Well, Forest will certainly hope so. Everton are now four points clear of the Reds in the table and drawing more teams closer to the Reds will be the order of the day from their perspective.
However, it does feel as though all of these rules are being made up as the Premier League go on. Richard Masters – who called Everton and Forest small clubs – is seemingly reluctant to say when Manchester City will be penalised for their 115 charges.
Surely, Everton will have to lose more points based on what has happened to Forest. None of it seems to make sense but if they have broken the rules for a second successive cycle then surely there will be another deduction to come.
