Nottingham Forest have decided to appeal their four-point deduction for breaching financial fair play and Luton Town star Andros Townsend can’t believe what he’s heard about it.
The Reds were deducted four points last Monday to slip inside the relegation zone for the first time in many months. Now, they sit a point worse off than Luton in 18th place.
Forest face Crystal Palace on Saturday before welcoming Fulham to the City Ground on Tuesday night next week. It’s imperative that points are collected and the Reds must now take action on the pitch.
Ultimately, the whole thing regarding FFP is proving farcical. Not just for the likes of Forest and Everton who are having their cases heard, but also for clubs like Luton who are fighting for survival too.

Andros Townsend can’t believe what he’s hard about Forest appeal process
Well, it’s not hard to agree with Townsend and the whole thing does feel like a bit of a joke now. There is no way that this should be allowed to drag on as it is doing and it’s just not fair on the club.
Townsend is in the thick of all of this. He’s on the books at Luton and he’s been explaining what he’s heard about the time over which Forest and Everton can find out about their appeal process.
He told The Monday Night Club: “I’ve said it before and I will say it again, we don’t know what’s going to happen.
“Everton have got points back, Forest have had points taken off and I’ve just read before I came on that they’re appealing so they might get points back, Everton may get more points.
“Who knows? And all this may get wrapped up the week before the season finishes. It’s all nonsense, to be honest.”
Premier League have to get themselves sorted
Well, it’s easy to say that the clubs should simply stay within the rules going forward. That is true but also there is absolutely zero consistency with these parameters and clubs are going to keep falling foul.
Meanwhile, Manchester City still have 115 charges hanging over their heads as they await the outcome of their charges. The case of the champions is yet to be heard!
For the clubs fighting for Premier League survival, it’s getting farcical and Townsend is right when it comes to the Forest situation.
Forest, Everton – and even Luton – shouldn’t be left to wait until the final weekend of the season and it’s imperative that the football is allowed to take centre stage for the club.
A quicker fix is required for these cases to be heard. As Townsend says, it’s ridiculous that clubs are having to wait so long and the Premier League needs to sort themselves out.
