Pat Nevin raved about two Nottingham Forest players as the Reds came from behind to draw 1-1 with Crystal Palace at the City Ground – climbing out of the relegation zone in the process.

It’s been a turbulent couple of weeks at Forest. The Reds have been deducted four points for their financial fair play charges, although the club have now made an appeal against the punishment.

It was nice to park points deduction talks and get back to playing football. Forest fell behind early doors when Jean-Philippe Matata blasted home after some good work from Eberechi Eze.

During the game, Nevin – who was working for BBC Sport – chose to rave about two Forest players. They were both instrumental in the Reds claiming a point and both are equally important.

Pat Nevin raves about two Nottingham Forest players

Well, it was a goal that could prove very important to Forest in the grand scheme of things. Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood once again teamed up to score and the pair are developing quite the partnership.

It was a real moment of magic from a Forest perspective. Gibbs-White played a wonderfully lofted ball to Wood and with his back to goal he managed to guide the ball over the head of a stranded Dean Henderson.

Nevin knows a thing or two about coming alive in the penalty area. The former striker was a pocket dynamo during his time as a player and he was very impressed with two Forest stars yesterday.

He told BBC Sport: “The imagination is fantastic. Chris Wood is running away from the goal, and has his back to the goal, and that is a very, very tough chance.

“He’s dropped into the pocket, quarterback pass, genius ball, genius finish. Now we’re going to hear a bit of atmosphere.”

Gibbs-White and Wood can get even better for Forest

Wood has spoken about his relationship with Forest star Gibbs-White. Together, the pair are doing some great things and hopefully, some wins can come in the next few weeks.

Both players are going to be very important in the coming weeks. Wood now has 11 goals to his name this season and he’s going to need Gibbs-White to continue assisting him.

Forest have to start winning games. With things so tight towards the bottom of the Premier League, a few wins could pretty quickly dispel any fears of relegation.

Nevin is right to rave about these two Forest players. It was a stunning performance from the duo and long may their link up continue as the season draws to a close.
