Nottingham Forest have a number of players out on loan at the moment with some enjoying more success than others.

Being a Premier League club has allowed Forest to get some talented youngsters some regular football under their belt elsewhere.

Several players are currently turning out in a variation of different leagues both domestically and overseas at the moment.

Being in the top flight has made it difficult for some of the younger players to walk the path from the youth team to the first team.

Still, the loan market is useful in that sense and it’s been extremely beneficial for some players waiting in the wings in the academy at Forest.

One of those is Brandon Aguilera and in January the Costa Rica international joined Bristol Rovers on loan.

He did make his first-team debut during that month before moving out on loan but now he’s starting to showcase what he’s all about in League One.

Brandon Aguilera stars during EFL victory

Well, it’s been a topsy-turvy kind of few months for Aguilera, with a hamstring injury blighting his progress somewhat.

Now, however, he’s back on the mend and at the weekend he was on the bench as the Gas took on Cheltenham.

An early injury to Grant Ward saw him thrust into the action, however, and he came onto the pitch in the 22nd minute.

Aguilera helped himself to another goal during this one, scoring the second goal during a 3-1 win against the relegation-threatened side.

The national media had high praise for the player and they scored him an 8/10 for his showing from the bench.

Bristol Live wrote: “Again, disappointing to see Grant Ward forced off but the Nottingham Forest loanee came on and caused havoc in the final third.

“The goal was an excellent finish but his all-round midfield play was superb, getting stuck into the battle against a physical side. Much better from the Costa Rican.”

Aguilera deserves Forest chance next season

At 20-years-old, the future looks extremely bright for the Forest youngster and a City Ground opportunity surely beckons.

With some men’s football now under his belt in League One, Aguilera will fancy a crack at Forest next season.

If the Reds gem can enjoy a decent pre-season with the squad he could become part of the squad next season as Forest try and cut their cloth accordingly.

Forest landed Aguilera as an unknown quantity. Now, he’s making waves in League One and this was his second goal during his loan spell.

The beauty of the attacking midfielder is that he can play anywhere in a front three and that could make him an asset to Nuno Espirito Santo next season.
