Michael Dawson has now shared whether he thinks Nottingham Forest will be relegated this season.

The Garibaldi are facing a crucial clash in the battle for Premier League survival, with a significant six-pointer against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sit just one point above the bottom three – but are only one point behind Everton, who are 16th, so a win for the Reds would see them leapfrog the Toffees.

Well, the man who made 122 appearances for Nottingham Forest across two separate stints at the City Ground believes Nuno will keep the Reds in the Premier League.

Dawson did – however – express concern over the fact Nottingham Forest have three away games against Everton, Sheffield United and Burnley to save themselves, claiming it is a “worry” given this season’s poor away form.

There are – of course – meetings with Manchester City and Chelsea at the City Ground, although these fixtures seem a lot harder on paper.

Nottingham Forest have recorded just two away wins in the Premier League this term – which came against Chelsea and Newcastle.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, Dawson said: “I still think they have got enough to stay in the league, but they have got Everton, Sheffield United and Burnley. All three games are away, and their away form is not very good at all. It’s going to be a worry.

“It’s in our hands, but there is pressure. Tomorrow, Everton, you talk about those Everton fans, they are edgy because pressure kicks in. I watched Everton against Burnley. It was a dreadful game, but they got over the line. Forest, I still think they have got enough to stay in the league.”

Remaining fixtures compared to Everton and Luton

At this stage of the season, it feels like the battle to avoid 18th place will be between Everton, Nottingham Forest and Luton – with Burnley and Sheffield United occupying the bottom two.
