‘A bit erratic’… Kelvin Wilson thinks 23-year-old Nottingham Forest player needs to calm down

Kelvin Wilson has suggested that one Nottingham Forest player needs to calm down a little bit during games.

The Reds were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City at the City Ground on Sunday as their relegation worries remained.

Nuno Espirito Santo needs to get his players firing for three massive games, starting with Saturday’s trip to Sheffield United.

It remains to be seen what team the head coach will pick at the weekend, with three centre-backs deployed for Sunday’s game with City.

Wilson has been discussing the Forest midfield area on the pitch and he thought one player was a little bit erratic last time out.

Kelvin Wilson thinks one Nottingham Forest player is ‘erratic’

Well, talk turned to the midfield ranks on this week’s edition of the Forest Focus podcast and Danilo was in the firing line.

The Brazilian signed for Forest in January 2023 for a fee of £16 million from Palmeiras – and he has enjoyed a positive impact.

Wilson believes the Forest man could be so much better, however, if he simply calmed down a little bit during games.

He told the Forest Focus podcast: “I just think Danilo is a little bit erratic for me.

“I’ve thought that all season.

“He’s a good player, he’s a young player but he just needs to calm it down a bit, he’s 100mph all of the time.”

Danilo has the magic to save Forest this season

We don’t think Wilson gets much wrong – but we have to disagree with him here a little bit.

Danilo is a flair player – much like Lewis McGugan was – and ultimately when he’s constantly trying to make things happen, mistakes will happen.

Still, Forest have enjoyed some of their most positive performances in recent weeks when Danilo has been called upon.

He’s probably a better option at this stage than Ryan Yates or Nicolas Dominguez and as a young player, he will continue to improve.

We do get what Wilson is saying. He does play the game at 100mph but ultimately that’s showcasing his energy and desire to make things happen.

Danilo is only going to improve and hopefully, Forest can remain in the Premier League and continue watching him thrive in the division.
