Kelvin Wilson has defended one Nottingham Forest player after Sunday’s defeat to Manchester City – and thinks he’s been quality all season.

It’s been a campaign of struggle for the Reds. With just three games remaining the team sits just a point clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League.

With Sheffield United to come on Saturday, Forest have to start winning games of football – and quickly!

The Reds have to play Chelsea at home and Burnley on the final day away to complete the season and points are badly needed.

After Sunday’s battling display against Manchester City, Wilson has defended one player and suggested that he shouldn’t be dropped.

Kelvin Wilson defends Nottingham Forest star Murillo

On this week’s edition of the Forest Focus podcast there were some fans slating Murillo.

Some questioned whether or not Nuno Espirito Santo should drop Murillo and go with players who can defend.

When the question was put to Wilson he found that notion quite strange and defended Murillo for his defensive qualities.

The former defender said on the Forest Focus podcast: “He’s an out-and-out defender.

“Apart from Haaland on Sunday – when he was injured – I’ve not seen Murillo get done. One-v-one, he’s strong, and he does take risks but more often than not they come off for him.

“He didn’t have his best game on Sunday but overall he’s not just been the best player but he’s been the best defender and his defending is brilliant – it’s aggressive and strong.”

Murillo will go to big club when he leaves the City Ground

Make no bones about it, the 22-year-old defender is going straight to the top when he leaves Forest.

The Reds managed to land the player for just £10.4 million and Forest will make a huge profit on Murillo.

He has all of the qualities that clubs look for in a modern-day defender with his ball-playing qualities exceptional.

Murillo has the highest dribble success ratio of any Premier League central defender, according to Who Scored, and that will put him in good shape.

Forest know they won’t keep Murillo forever but right now, the very notion of dropping him is just absurd.
