Nottingham Forest fans have all been saying the same thing this afternoon following an announcement on the future of Ola Aina.

The Reds landed the former Chelsea and Fulham player on a free transfer 12 months ago from Torino.

Aina – a versatile defender – has been integral this season having joined the club on a free transfer.

The Nigerian international was in fine form on the international stage at the African Cup of Nations too – helping his team reach the final.

Now, some news on the future of Aina at Forest has emerged this afternoon.

Nottingham Forest fans react to Ola Aina announcement

This afternoon, the speculation over the player’s future has been put to bed, with Aina penning a new one-year contract at the City Ground.

The 27-year-old has been rewarded for his performances and now he can look forward to another year on Trentside.

Aina’s new deal was confirmed on the club’s official website and the extension has been activated immediately.

The Forest star has operated at right-back and left-back this season, producing strong showings across the campaign.

Aina made 22 appearances in total and it would appear as though this news has been welcomed by the Forest supporters.

Fans have been reacting on X to this news and it’s fair to say that most are satisfied with the news.

One fan said: “Fully deserved.”

Another one added: “Great first signing! He’s been class at times, stay fit and own that slot again next year, great to hear you’re staying Ola!”

A third added: “Brilliant news.”

Another one was really impressed, saying: “No brainer. Need to find some more like him as he’s been excellent.”

A fifth fan claimed: “Excellent business. More of this please!”

Finally, someone claimed: “Very happy with this one! One of my favourite players this season.”

Forest recruitment deserves praise for stellar signing

Aina was the first man signed by Forest last summer – and many actually viewed it as somewhat underwhelming.

However, Aina quickly showcased what he was all about and but for injuries he’d have played more games.

The challenge for the recruitment team is to keep scouring the market for players of this ilk ahead of next season.

Transfers don’t always need to be ones that cost a fortune and getting Aina on a free transfer has been brilliant business for Forest.

If anything, Aina can perhaps count himself a little bit unlucky.

Some fans have claimed that he should have been handed another couple of years on to the deal he’s signed.

One fan wrote: “Great but should have been three years minimum.”

Another wrote: “Get him on a three-year deal, some unreal business on a free.”

Finally, a third fan claimed: “Where’s the rest for the man with pure vibes?”

Aina is going to be a seriously big player again next season – given that he can operate the utility role.

Forest might not have a bounty of cash to spend this summer but keeping Aina represents a very good start to the transfer window
