Nottingham Forest are hoping to tie up a deal to sign a new goalkeeper this week.

It’s been claimed all summer that the Reds are keen to strengthen between the posts ahead of the new season.

Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos could both leave the City Ground, with clubs eyeing both custodians.

Matz Sels finished the season as the number one but the club are planning for the future and look to be landing Carlos Miguel.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has been linked with Forest for a little while and it would seem there is good news.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared some details about when exactly the player could sign for Forest.

Fabrizio Romano shares when Nottingham Forest will sign Carlos Miguel

According to the transfer guru, the Reds are edging very close to completing their latest summer signing.

Miguel it would appear is set to sign for Forest early this week, with the £3.4 million release clause now activated.

The 6ft 7in giant is going to sign for the Reds on a long-term contract and Romano is now confident of the deal being completed.

Miguel has been touted as a future Brazil international and Tottenham star Emerson Royal is also a huge fan of the goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old will have to compete with Sels for the number one spot at the City Ground but he will fancy his chances.

Although Sels has been steady, he was never going to be considered a long-term performer given that he’s in his thirties.

Miguel can be the heir to Brice Samba’s throne

Looking at some of the footage, it would appear that Miguel boasts similar agility to Samba and that bodes well.

He also picked up a yellow card last week whilst playing for Corinthians after shoving a Sao Paulo player to the ground.

Forest are yet to replace Samba on Trentside and hopefully, Miguel can be the man to take charge between the posts.

Miguel is a giant of a player and given the paltry sum that Forest are going to sign him for, this one feels like a no-brainer.

Hopefully, the supporters can get a chance to see Miguel posing with his new colours later this week.
