A player wanted by Nottingham Forest in August 2023 is now firmly off the agenda for the current transfer window.
It proved a late night for the football club on transfer deadline day last summer.
Forest had lots of gaps to fill in their squad and ended up adding a further six players on deadline day as the window slammed shut.
One of those to join in a mad dash at the eleventh hour was striker Divock Origi – but he wasn’t the club’s first choice.
That was a striker who had been fancied by the son of Evangelos Marinakis, Miltos, but now any deal for him this summer will be out of the question.

Player wanted by Nottingham Forest last year joins new club
The striker who was wanted by Forest on transfer deadline day in August 2023 was Michy Batshuayi.
The former Chelsea had been identified as someone who could come in and become a big-name signing by Miltos Marinakis.
Instead, he remained with Fenerbahce and Forest quickly switched their focus to signing Origi on loan from AC Milan.
Now, Batshuayi has signed for Galatasaray, as per Fabrizio Romano, and that will see Forest fans breathe a huge sigh of relief.
The Belgium striker has played 77 times in the Premier League across spells with Chelsea and Crystal Palace, scoring 15 goals.
His record in Europe has been largely decent but signing him for a struggling Premier League club would have been something of a risk.
Last season he did fire 24 goals for Fenerbahce but the Turkish Super Lig can’t be compared to the Premier League.
Forest need different profile of striker this summer
Given that Chris Wood is 32 and Taiwo Awoniyi struggles to stay fit, Forest could welcome a new striker this summer.
However, they must move on from this profile of non-scoring strikers who are somewhat journeymen and are seeking a sizeable wage.
Forest could do with a younger striker who they can sign relatively cheap and who could make them significant profit in resale down the line.
A younger forward could be absolutely perfect and if the club can seek one who has a proven track record of scoring goals in the Premier League it would be even better.
The days of signing players like Batshuayi have to become a thing of the past following the debacle involving Origi last season.
